![]() Your getting the most for your money, if you buy a 1073mp (lets say you don't need eq) that will probably outperform any 500 series 1073 clone in the price range due to the dedicated power supply. Heritage vs BAE vs Vintech?Bae is the best deal. I don't really have a price range yet, I'm just looking for input so I can determine what the proper spend is going to be. Of course there's the AMS Neve stuff, but I think both they and their vintage counterparts are out of my price range at the moment. I heard the Vintech 573 is nice but not really great and the BAE and Heritage stuff seems to get lots of love. But it does have the EQ section and I keep reading online that a 1073 pre without the EQ section doesn't have the same mojo. what other 1073 style hardware preamps out there would you recommend? I wasn't impressed at all with the GAP 73 and I keep hearing great things about the Vintech X73i, even though it apparently is populated with surface-mount components to save costs. ![]() Hell, running it through all hardware versions of my favorite Pultecs, LA2As, etc would probably be the shiz, but that's a problem to tackle at a later time. ![]() And as killer as it sounds, I keep thinking that a real 1073 style hardware pre, running through my favorite UAD plug in combo would sound even better. I recently acquired an Apollo Twin and have grown to love the Unison plug in for the Neve 1073 for voice over.
